TESTING A DYADIC SLEEP INTERVENTION FOR PERSONS LIVING WITH COGNITIVE IMPAIRMENT AND THEIR CARE PARTNERS

Abstract Sleep disturbance is prevalent among persons living with cognitive impairment (PLWCI) and their care partners, suggesting that dyadic sleep an interdependent phenomenon. There also interdependence in the disturbance. Despite pervasiveness of shared these dyads its negative impact on health outcomes, there are remarkably few interventions for which both members dyad participate. This study examines outcomes PLWCI-care partner insomnia symptoms. Dyads were simultaneously participating a behavioral therapy intervention. The Epworth Sleepiness Scale Insomnia Severity Index assessed daytime sleepiness insomnia, respectively, at baseline immediately post-intervention. We compared pre- post-intervention ESS ISI scores. For 14 participants (n=7 dyads), partners spouses, average 71.6 years, female (100%) highly educated (18.85 years). PLWCI 73.85 years 18.28 education. Daytime improved four worsened two partners.
